About yourself
Hello there, my name is Iwan. When I was 12 years old, my cousin showed me his electric guitar and he learned me a couple of simple things to play. I loved it, and one week later I bought my own one. Soon I realized that playing the guitar was one of the most important things in life for me, and it still is.
I grew up with the music of rock and metal bands like: Accept/U.D.O., Thin Lizzy, Aerosmith, Rammstein, Ozzy Osbourne and Van Halen. You can imagine that this was the kind stuff I liked to play in the beginning. At an age of fifteen, I started to listen more to the extreme metal genres like Black, Thrash and Death metal, this has had a big influence on the way I played the guitar. I taught myself a couple of techniques I love to use, like: sweep picking, speed picking, whammy bar tricks and all kind of harmonics. That’s how I developed my style of playing the guitar nowadays.
Before my time with raiser, I didn’t have any band experience at all. However my brother plays the drums, so I write a lot of music with him too. In the end of 2009 I began to realize that it became time to get in a real band, with fanatic guys like me. I mainly searched for advertisements on the internet but I couldn’t find a band with the same interests of music nearby enough. I almost gave up searching but at the end of the summer in 2010 I read the advertisement of the band Raiser. They were looking for a guitarist and vocalist, so I reacted as fast as I could after listening some of their songs.
A couple of days later I did my audition and my first thoughts jamming with these guys were like: fucking hell, these guys can play! I was very impressed by them, and knew this was the thing I always wanted ever since I started to play the guitar. One week later vocalist Sander joined us, and our band called Raiser was complete again, ready to thrash till death.
Raiser has become one of the most important factors in my life and from the beginning I have been proud to be a member of it!
